California State Polytechnic University

Cal Poly Pomona was established on September 15th 1938, as the Voorhis Unit of California State Polytechnic College in San Luis Obispo. It is located on the 150-acre San Dimas site of the former Voorhis school of boys. CPP was first established with a total of 110 boy students.

In 1956, the student body and faculty relocated from San Dimas to the Kellogg campus. Female students joined the campus in 1961 for the first time. Later in 1966, the Pomona campus separated from the San Luis campus and became California State Polytechnic College, Kellogg campus. In 1972, it got the University Status.

Today, the university is home to about 24,000 campus students and 2,600 faculty and staff. It is also part of the 23-campus California State University system.
